Located in the Marina district, this is a stop you must make if you visit the San Francisco area. The Palace of Fine Arts was created for the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition. The Fair was a San Francisco celebration of the completion of the Panama Canal and of the city's resurrection after the shattering earthquake and fire of 1906.

By the 1960s the structure had fallen into ruins due to neglect and by 1964 a movement began to rebuild the main parts of the original structure.
